Raise your hand if you have never seen a beautiful pair of sunglasses on a friend or in some super cool advertising, but it doesn't fit us as we hoped?
How many times have we been tempted to make impulse purchases just because that pair of sunglasses is on trend, or because the hell it look really good on someone and make it cooler?
Well, we offer you a small guide on how to choose the most suitable glasses for your face shape, hoping it will be useful.
First of all, each face has its own characteristics and peculiarities, but in general there are four main shapes: OVAL, ROUND, SQUARE or TRIANGULAR.
To determine the shape of your face, equip yourself with a centimeter and start measuring!
1. Measure the fullest part of your forehead. It is usually the halfway point between the eyebrows and the upper hairline. Measure the width from the hairline.
2. Measure the distance between the cheekbones. Touch the top of the cheek and find where the bone is most prominent. It is usually located just below the outer corner of the eye. Once you have located the right spot, measure the distance between one cheekbone and the other.
3. Measure your jaw. Measure the distance from the corner of the jaw, which is just below the ear, to the tip of the chin. Multiply the measurement obtained by two and you will get the total length of the jaw.
4. Measure the length of your face. Start from the center point of the upper hairline to the tip of your chin to get the length of your face. If you have a receding hairline or baldness, estimate where your hairline used to be.
OVAL FACE
This category includes faces where the length is greater than the width, the forehead is wider than the jaw and the angle of the jaw is rounded and not sharp.
This type of face is certainly the most harmonious one and it best suits any haircut, any type of beard and obviously any shape of glasses. You're lucky!
You can really indulge yourself in the search for your glasses even if, however, a square shape will certainly be able to best enhance your face, perhaps choosing it with rounded corners so as not to harden it too much.
ROUND FACE
Are in this category all faces with decidedly rounded features, with foreheads and jaws almost equidistant. Specifically, the length of the face (from top to bottom) and the interval between the cheekbones have the same length; the forehead and jaw are the same length; the forehead and jaw are narrower than the cheekbone line or the length of the face.
In this case what should be done is to interrupt this roundness with sharp and clear lines; then opt for rectangular and well-squared frames, better if a little elongated at the sides to optically break the figure of the face thus making it more thin.
SQUARE FACE
This type of face is characterized by decidedly angular features and rather similar measures. In conclusion, you have a square face if: the measurements are very similar to each other, your jaw is sharp, the chin is not rounded.
This type of face, decidedly masculine, must certainly be softened with round lines, which break up its hard and decisive features.
This is definitely the hardest face shape to treat, but don't get down on it and think it's the same face shape as Brad Pitt and Angiolina Jolie. Not bad, huh?
TRIANGULAR FACE
This type of face is narrower on the forehead and wider on the chin or, conversely, wider on the forehead and narrower on the chin (inverted triangle). In this case, to give harmony to the face, it will be appropriate to opt for glasses with a square and rounded shape for men and butterfly glasses for women, preferably both with thin temples.
As mentioned previously, each face is a case in itself as it is characterized by unique features, however we recommend to identify the dominant features of your face to understand which sunglasses frames can suit you the most.
Beyond the shape, what matters is choosing the eyewear that we like best, that most reflects our style and that best highlights our personality, because it is not fashion that defines who you are, but only your self.
